Steven Li, Payton

Steven Li is from the South Side of Chicago. Steven is currently a senior at Walter Payton College Prep and will be attending Stanford University Class of 2024. He joined OTM in October 2018, the beginning of his junior year. Throughout his time at OTM, Steven has been invested in writing about environmental and business commentary in addition to the college application experience as a first-generation, low-income student.

Olamide Babayeju, Northside

Olamide Babayeju is a senior from the south side of Chicago. She currently attends Northside College Preparatory High School and will matriculate to the University of Southern California in the fall of 2020. She will be spending the next four years learning about business on three different continents through USC’s World Bachelor in Business Program. Olamide is an ambitious young woman who possesses exceptional writing skills and leadership abilities.

Aaron Huang, Payton

Aaron Huang is a senior at Walter Payton College Prep living in the Bridgeport area. He began working at On The Money in the spring of 2020. As a senior, he is currently in the process of determining what college he wants to go to. Although he wants to major in something related to human biology, he still wants to pursue business administration or entrepreneurship in college.

Giselle Rodriguez, Instituto

Giselle Dorismar Rodriguez Montano, better known as Giselle Rodriguez, grew up in the Little Village neighborhood and is a student at Instituto Health Science Career Academy. Although she is unsure yet what career to pursue, Giselle is sure to attend Wartburg College this fall. Giselle began being a part of OTM 11th grade fall 2019, and is part of the graduating Class of 2020. Giselle typically writes articles regarding the environment.

Gwenyth Easterling, Brooks

Gwenyth Easterling, Brooks

Gwenyth Easterling, formally known as the 15-year CEO who has been interested in the beauty industry since the age of 13, and now she is Vice President of OTM (2020). She began the internship spring of her sophomore year. Gwenyth is a sole believer in community service. She will be graduating from Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory High School, and planning to further her education at North Carolina A&T majoring in supply chain management.

Elizabeth Brahin, Payton

Lizzy Brahin is a student at Walter Payton College Prep, Class of 2021, and resides in Chicago's New Eastside neighborhood. She plans to study economics and statistics in college and pursue a career in finance. She began interning at On the Money during her sophomore year to share her passion for financial literacy. Outside of OTM, she is President of the Junior Economic Club of Chicago for the 2020-2021 school year and Executive Co-Chair of her school's Economics and Investment Team.

Umair Ahmed, Northside

Umair Ahmed, Northside

Umair Ahmed resides in the Albany Park neighborhood in Chicago. He is currently a junior attending Northside College Prep High School. Umair joined On the Money in 11th grade in January 2020, and his anticipated graduation year is 2021. He typically writes articles about personal finance tips for youth. Umair is very passionate about finance and economics. He believes that finance and economics provide a coherent worldview in making the world a better place.

Mia Booth, Kenwood

Mia Booth, a resident of the Kenwood neighborhood in Chicago, is a current junior enrolled at Kenwood Academy. She will be graduating Class of 2021. Mia has an academic interest in English which has led to her aspiration to go into the field of communications. Mia began as an intern for On the Money as a sophomore in 2018. She has written articles that essentially focused on financial aid/scholarship. Mia’s favorite money quote is “Not every dollar of ours is meant to build wealth."

Daniela Ocana, Pritzker

Daniela Ocana is student at Pritzker College Prep High school Class of 2021. She strives to take opportunities, make new connections, and be engaged with the community. Ocana recently joined On the Money Magazine during the spring of 2020. She aims to spread economic awareness about the importance of financial literacy when writing articles: “Giving a credit card to someone that is financially illiterate is as dangerous as giving someone a car without the preparation.”

Leslie Walker, Payton

Leslie Walker is a student at Walter Payton College Prep from the Southside of Chicago. She enjoys reading, listening to music, and playing the saxophone. Her hobbies include playing the saxophone, listening to music, and binging Netflix. She joined OTM in 2018 and her articles vary from agriculture to the stock market. She plans on studying medicine in college and her favorite money quote is "Money is a scarce resource and should be deployed in the most efficient way possible."

Harman Dhillon, Bartlett

Harman Dhillon is an OTM intern from Chicago’s southwest suburbs. She enjoys listening to music and painting. Harman attends Bartlett High School and her academic focus is on STEM. She started OTM as a 10th grader in Spring 2020. Harman is a part of the graduating class of 2022. She typically writes about technology in the business world, and one of her favorite sayings is by Guy Kawasaki: “If you make meaning, you’ll make money.”

London Gibson-Purcell, Whitney

London Gibson-Purcell, Whitney

London Gibson-Purcell is a 16 year old sophomore at Whitney M. Young High School in the Class of 2022. She is interested in studying journalism or business finance in the future. She is from Woodlawn on the South Side of Chicago and uses her free time reading and running. She joined On the Money magazine in the winter of 2019 and she likes to write about technology, gender/race relations, and managing money. Her favorite quote is "Use money to make more money."

Arushi Chauhan, Bartlett

Arushi is from the southwest suburb of Bartlett. She enjoys baking and reading. Her academic focus is on STEM, and she attends Bartlett High School. Arushi became an OTM intern in spring 2020 as a 10th grader. Her graduating class is in 2022. She writes about environmental and energy economics, and one saying she likes is "Save money, and money will save you."

Fathima Shaikh, Payton

Fathima Shaikh is an ambitious, hard-working, young author located in the West side of Chicago who started On The Money as a freshman in the spring of 2020. She is currently attending Walter Payton College Prep High school and will be graduating in 2023. She is interested in pursuing her further studies in the business field or medical field. The first article Fathima has written incorporates topics such as health and finance.
