BASED IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
On the Money magazine is a by teens for teens publication that was founded in 2007, On the Money’s mission is to increase entrepreneurship education and the financial capability of teens through the development of peer-based educational resources, community outreach, and student-written publications. Each semester, high school interns from across the city of Chicago come together to research and publish articles relating to finance and entrepreneurship.

Throughout the years, On the Money has grown to reach over 18,000 youth throughout Chicagoland annually. While continuing to be distributed in print, the new interactive online platform aims to allow easy access to articles as we expand our education outreach to a global scale.

Class of 2020

Steven Li
Walter Payton College Prep
Steven Li is from the South Side of Chicago. Steven is currently a senior at Walter Payton College Prep and will be attending Stanford University Class of 2024. He joined OTM in October 2018, the beginning of his junior year. Throughout his time at OTM, Steven has been invested in writing about environmental and business commentary in addition to the college application experience as a first-generation, low-income student. More recently, Steven has been spending his time working on a Kickstarter project and filmmaking as a hobby.

Olamide Babayeju
Northside College Prep
Olamide Babayeju is a senior from the south side of Chicago. She currently attends Northside College Preparatory High School and will matriculate to the University of Southern California in the fall of 2020. She will be spending the next four years learning about business on three different continents through USC’s World Bachelor in Business Program. Olamide is an ambitious young woman who possesses exceptional writing skills and leadership abilities. She has written articles for On the Money on topics ranging from starting a Roth IRA to the benefits of ESG investing. She also assists OTM with growing their digital presence by creating content for their social media. Ultimately, she strives to make financial literacy more accessible regardless of a person’s economic or social status. In her free time, she can be found listening to music, enjoying a good book, or studying Italian.

Aaron Huang
Walter Payton College Prep
Aaron Huang is a senior at Walter Payton College Prep living in the Bridgeport area. He began working at On The Money in the spring of 2020. As a senior, he is currently in the process of determining what college he wants to go to. Although he wants to major in something related to human biology, he still wants to pursue business administration or entrepreneurship in college. His recently published article written in the spring semester describes the significance of advertising in the success of a business.
